It's with great pleasure that I introduce to you the ONE, TRUE living God my Friend.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1-3 KJV
It is hard to fully understand the idea of God because He is not like us. He is similar to us but not like us. Imagine Him like a superhero, but He's a perfect superhero with no faults. He exists outside of time, space and even the earth and because of this He has some really mind blowing attributes, characteristics and components.
Revelation 4
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:16-17
There is ONE God but three persons each being equally God. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Huh? I know right. It sounds quite bizarre, but it is TRUE! Each person plays some similar roles and some different. Let's compare the Trinity to water. There are three states that water has solid, liquid and gas.
Ice - Jesus the Son - He is God. He was fully human for a specific time period. Persons saw, touched, held and even hit him! Ice is physical and we can hold and touch it.
Liquid - The Holy Spirit - He lives on the inside of us and dwells within us. It is Him who works within us and gives us various gifts, directs us and talks to us. Our bodies need water to live. Water flows through our body.
Gas - The Father - He is all around us in everything that we do. We may not always see him however He is there. Similarly, we don't always see gases.
No person in the Trinity is more powerful than the next they are all equal.
The roles of each person are much more descriptive than this. Each person is God, so they share similar roles as well.
For example, they all love us, they are all holy, they all speak truth, none of them can lie etc.
God The Holy Spirit - Helper
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26
Many scriptures describe him giving us gifts, teaching us what to say, comforting us and bringing us into all truth, His help spans into all areas of our life.
God The Son Jesus Christ - Saviour
10 It was not shown to us until our Savior Christ Jesus came. Jesus destroyed death. And through the Good News, he showed us the way to have life that cannot be destroyed. 1 Timothy 1:10
The good news is that Jesus came to earth and died for ALL sins and because of that act we can have eternal life. He is the ONLY way to eternal life.
God The Father - Father
Well, he does Fatherly things for us!
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:25-26
Throughout scripture we see the Father well, being a father. Providing, discipling, forgiving, loving, protecting, guiding and showing all attributes of a GOOD & PERFECT father.
